Master Saumik Bera started learning yoga at a young age of 5 and to date has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years.
Master Saumik has competed and won many prestigious championship awards. At the age of 21, he was awarded 3 gold medals at the International Yoga Cup held in Italy. For three consecutive years between 2005 to 2007 he was awarded the gold medals for the Artistic Yoga category in the World Cups Championship. He was also recognized and honored as the best Asian Yoga Teacher in Artistic Yoga during the World Cup Championship in 2007.
Master Saumik holds a master degree in Yoga and currently, he is preparing to pursue his PHD in Yoga. His teaching experience spans well over 10 years extending to different parts of the world covering places like India, Europe and Singapore where he has been teaching for the last 4 years.
Master Saumik teaches yoga for all levels, from beginners up to advanced levels. His specialization lies in the alignment of yoga postures and he likes to give in depth explanation of each pose with inner movement of human body. He has thus developed new class type “Yoga for Body Opening” that emphasizes on opening the body for the pelvic, hips and shoulders regions, which could be applied to students of various fitness levels. He has also created various classes to suit individual yoga practitioner needs such as Golfer’s Yoga, Partner’s Yoga, and Yoga for Senior Citizens, Yoga for Slimming, Yoga for Injuries, Kids Yoga and many others.
Master Saumik has immense passion for yoga such that yoga flows through his mind, heart, blood, body and soul. He loves to impart his extensive knowledge in yoga to everyone. According to Master Saumik, yoga is a mind game and not a game of the body. He is well received as one of the best Yoga Master in Singapore as his uniqueness of his teachings is highly regarded and followed by many practitioners.
He is a great master and mentor to many yoga teachers as he has nurtured a number of yoga instructors who are currently successfully teaching in Singapore.
In April 2009, Master Saumik as the chief advisor and principal master of Real Yoga presented the first and largest yoga workout event in Singapore - Yogamania 2009.
Master Saumik is the first yoga master, who taught yoga in the world largest observation wheel known as Singapore Flyer standing at 165m from the ground.
